Dry Grinding Vs Wet Grinding

Ball mills are generally divided into dry grinding and wet grinding. Wet grinding is the most commonly used method. It is high efficiency and the particles grinding out of the ball are uniform. Because the particles are grinding and impacting the ball milling medium during the ball mill, cracks will occur, and the crack expansion will break over time to form small particles, which is the so -called grinding process. If it is dry grinding, when the granules expand during the ball mill, the cracks formed may be squeezed "closed" due to the squeeze between the ball mill or between the particles. Granules, but if it is wet grinding, then the liquid ball milling medium (water or water -free ethanol, etc.) will enter the crack gap formed, blocking the closure of the crack, which will effectively expand the crack quickly and greatly improve the efficiency of ball milling. For dry grinding, it is generally aimed at the material that does not respond in the liquid medium. If there is a response, other substances will be formed in the ball mill, and the ball mill will not make sense, such as: cement cannot be grinded in the water. At the same time, when dry grinding, due to the design of the ball mill, sometimes the dead ends are formed. Some materials in the dead corner cannot be grinded; Dry and remove moisture or other liquid medium, which will increase energy consumption and cost. At present, most of them use wet grinding.

During the wet grinding, the ball: material: water (or other liquid) = 4: 2: 1, or make a small adjustment within this range, the specific experiment can be determined. At the same time, the size of the aluminum alumina grinding ball balls can be determined. There are also requirements for the level. If the ratio is good, the ball milling efficiency of raw materials will be greatly improved. Generally, there are large and medium balls, and the best ratio between them can also be obtained through experiments.
