At every intersection point where the corrugations of adjacent sheets meet, the angle of inclination of the corrugations is inverted with respect to the vertical column axis, creating mixing cells. The liquid and gas streams are encouraged to mix closely and to be distributed radially as a result.

Ceramic Structured Packing are created by ceramic corrugated sheets (Ceramic Corrugated Structured Column Packing). At every intersection point where the corrugations of adjacent sheets meet, the angle of inclination of the corrugations is inverted with respect to the vertical column axis, creating mixing cells. The liquid and gas streams are encouraged to mix closely and to be distributed radially as a result. The sheets of one element are opposite the sheets of the elements above and below as the next element is rotated about the column axis. Gas and liquid are extensively mixed as they move through each element in a path parallel to the sheets' plane. Following elements can be rotated to achieve great side-to-side and front-to-back mixing and spreading across the tower's whole cross section.

Ceramic Structured Packing

Ceramic surfaces have the ability to produce extremely thin film liquid flow, tortuous vapor flow passageways that encourage the mixing of liquid and vapor, and generally minimal pressure drop. These explanations explain why metal packing and ceramic structured packing both have the same mass transfer efficiency. Ceramic Structured Packings, on the other hand, are far more resistant to high temperatures and corrosion than metal packing. The ceramic packing's surface structure may encourage wetting and minimize liquid hold-up.
