Metal structured packing and wire mesh structured packing have a high specific surface area. At the same time, due to the capillary effect of the wire mesh*, the packing surface has good wettability, so it has a high separation efficiency. Compared with other packing materials, it has lower pressure drop and lower liquid holding capacity, which is especially suitable for materials that are difficult to separate and heat-sensitive system.

Due to the uniform, regular and symmetrical structure of the metal orifice plate corrugated packing, when it has the same specific surface area as the bulk packing, the packing has a larger void ratio and a greater flux, and its comprehensive processing capacity is higher than that of the plate tower and bulk packing. The tower is much larger, so various general-purpose structured packings represented by corrugated metal orifice plates are used in industry.
